People with Medicare get their prescription drugs though the Medicare Part D program. This program is separate from the one that provides recipients with hospital and medical coverage. Medicare Part D has its own rules and can be complicated to navigate, even for the most seasoned advocate.

During this basic training, Medicare Part D, Justice in Aging attorneys provide essential information on Medicare Part D, with particular emphasis on how the program works for low income consumers.

The training provides an overview of:

  • Eligibility and enrollment
  • The Low Income Subsidy (“Extra Help”)
  • Plan choices
  • Exceptions and appeals

Following the training, the audience will have a foundational understanding of Medicare Part D and the most common issues advocates encounter.

Newer legal services attorneys, law students, and aging and disability network professionals looking to understand the basic principles of Medicare Part D are encouraged to attend.

Presenters:
Georgia Burke, Directing Attorney, Justice in Aging
