Shelby came to Justice in Aging in 2015. She manages donor campaigns, fundraising events, and grants. Her work has led to increased funding that has enabled the organization to grow its staff and deepen its impact. Shelby was drawn to Justice in Aging as a result of her close relationship to her own grandparents, her lifelong dedication to social justice issues, and her passion for storytelling as a tool for social change.
Prior to joining Justice in Aging, she worked as a community organizer and event planner at the San Jose Peace and Justice Center, organizing on immigrant rights, political activist rights, and against racial injustice and police militarization. She also worked with the late American Muslim civil rights leader Dr. Agha Saeed at American Muslim Alliance (AMA) and Global Forum TV.
Shelby graduated from San Francisco State University with a B.A. in Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts and now resides near Sacramento, CA. In her spare time, she enjoys watching her son play baseball and hockey, going on nature hikes, and spending time in Lake Tahoe with family and friends.
