New research reveals that one in four U.S. adults currently serves as a caregiver for a relative with complex medical needs.

Most family caregivers are unpaid, but advocates say this “invisible workforce” in healthcare is desperate for help.

Managing Director of Health Care Advocacy, Amber Christ, was a guest on this news story and provided perspective on solutions that would solve the caregiving crisis.

"It's not just one solution. We need many solutions like increasing the availability of at-home care through Medicare and social insurance options that go beyond Medicare and Medicaid like what we see in Washington State," she said. Washington State has a long-term care insurance program funded through payroll taxes.
