Most of us will need some assistance as we grow older, whether at home or in a nursing facility. However, Medicare’s coverage of long-term care is limited and. doesn’t cover most long-term care needs. Few older adults have the resources to pay for long-term services and supports (LTSS) out-of-pocket, making Medicaid the primary funder for most long-term care in the United States, regardless of where that care is provided. Justice in Aging’s LTSS advocacy focuses on equitable access to long-term services and supports that are non-institutional and person centered, and protecting the rights of residents in institutional settings.
