California’s Medi-Cal program has undergone significant changes in the past two years. This webinar, Medi-Cal Updates and the Medi-Cal Unwinding, will provide an overview of recent changes and their impact on low-income older adults, including the upcoming elimination of the asset test and updates under CalAIM including Enhanced Care Management and Community Supports.
This webinar will also provide an update on Medi-Cal “unwinding.” During the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency, protections were put in place to keep individuals enrolled in Medi-Cal and protect their health coverage. Today, however, these protections have ended and California is again reviewing individuals’ ongoing eligibility for Medi-Cal. The restart of Medi-Cal redeterminations is called the “unwinding.” The unwinding poses many challenges for older adults, especially those dually eligible for Medicare and Medi-Cal. Preliminary data on Medi-Cal redeterminations show that many older adults and people with disabilities may be losing Medi-Cal coverage. This webinar will provide updates and best practices advocates can use to help their older adult clients during unwinding.
