This webinar took place on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. PT/2:00 p.m. ET.
Asian American and Pacific Islander older adults are a diverse community with many unique needs and specific issues. Unfortunately, the AAPI community has been met with longstanding discrimination and xenophobia, including high-profile attacks in recent months. Many of these incidents have disproportionately targeted AAPI older adult women, based on potential perceptions of vulnerability at the intersection of age, gender, and race.
This webinar, How Aging and Legal Services Providers Can Better Serve AAPI Older Adults, explores some fundamental demographic information about AAPI older adults, including rates of poverty and reliance on government benefits programs, and basic issues facing the AAPI older adult community. It will also review practical suggestions for individuals working with AAPI older adults on how these professionals can better serve them and include resources that can assist in the delivery of culturally competent services.
This webinar is co-hosted by the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging and Justice in Aging.
