This webinar took place on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PT/2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET.
Although great strides have been made to reform guardianship systems across the country, those reforms have largely overlooked issues relating to equity. Older adults who are members of marginalized communities may well be at increased risk of disability and guardianship due to a lifetime of discriminatory bias. Within the guardianship system itself, those same biases might further and even exacerbate existing disparities.
Please join us as we explore the intersection of guardianship and equity and examine how the guardianship system, and the ongoing reform efforts within that system, might better address the needs of marginalized older adults.
The webinar, Equitable Guardianship Reform: Recommendations for Advancing Equity in the Guardianship System, will spotlight Justice in Aging’s Equitable Guardianship Reform issue brief series and analyze how ongoing reform efforts can be refocused to center equity and build better systems for everyone. The session will provide participants with clear recommendations they can then use to advocate for equitable change within their own state guardianship systems.
