For over 50 years we have used the power of law to fight senior poverty across the country.

Our Impact

For over 50 years we have used the power of law to fight senior poverty across the country. When the older adults in our communities lack access to healthcare or struggle for economic security, we deploy our cutting edge model of litigation and advocacy to stand with them and demand justice.

Our Focus

In our mission to fight senior poverty, we advance the interests of low-income seniors and people with disabilities with special focus on access to quality health care and economic security. Within that focus, our efforts are concentrated on populations that have traditionally lacked legal protection such as women, people of color, LGBT individuals, and people with limited English proficiency.

Monthly Donations

Monthly donations are a vote of confidence in our work and have a lasting impact, while saving us staff time and resources. Simply check the box that says: “Make this donation recurring ” on our donation page..

Gift of Stock or Appreciated Assets

Donating stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have appreciated in value is a highly effective way to support Justice in Aging. Not only does this method allow you to potentially eliminate the capital gains tax you would owe if you sold these assets, but it also entitles you to a tax deduction based on the full market value at the time of the donation. This means you can give more to Justice in Aging without affecting your liquidity or cash flow. To initiate a stock transfer, have your broker contact our Director of Finance, Tye Haralson at tharalson@justiceinaging.org or 571-548-5698.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)

If you are 70 ½ years old or older, you can donate up to $100,000 per year directly for your Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to a qualified charity such as Justice in Aging. A QCD offers the benefit of satisfying your required minimum distribution (RMD) without increasing your taxable income. This can be particularly advantageous if you do not need the RMD for living expenses and wish to reduce your tax burden while supporting our cause.

Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)

A Donor-Advised Fund is like a charitable investment account, designed exclusively for the purpose of supporting organizations you care about. By making a charitable contribution to your DAF, you are immediately eligible for a tax deduction and can then recommend grants to Justice in Aging at your convenience. This allows you to make a meaningful impact over time, potentially grow your donation through investment, and support our advocacy and impact litigation.
