This year’s event will be in-person and outdoors at The Overlook in Oakland, CA with a beautiful view of Lake Merritt in downtown Oakland. Attendees will enjoy delicious drink and food catered by local Chef Robert Dorsey, and celebrate two outstanding leaders who have made a significant contribution to better the lives of older adults.

Debbie Toth, President & CEO of Choice in Aging, will be honored with our Paul Nathanson Distinguished Advocate Award and Dr. Mark Ghaly, California Secretary of Health & Human Services, will be honored with our Impact Award.

Micheal Pope, Executive Director and CEO of Alzheimer’s Services of the East Bay will serve as our emcee for the evening and Porsche Veu aka The Poetic Activist will perform spoken word.

Porsche Veu (pronounced Por-shuh Vay-ooo) aka The Poetic Activist is an author, speaker, and artist from Oakland, Ca. She has spoken, performed, and taught in a variety of spaces including Ted Talk, Apple, Google, Center for Independent Living, and Public Advocates. With a heart for God, social justice, Black & women empowerment, and mental health, she aims to bridge the gap between faith and social justice, create atmospheres for uncomfortable yet important conversations, and inspire others to tell their own stories through motivational speaking, workshops, poetry and music.
