National Journal: Advocates Fear Medicaid Cuts are on the Way (March 28, 2021)

The threat to Medicaid coverage for things like dental care, certain breast-cancer tests, and home- and community-based services comes from a leftover Trump Administration regulation released in November. The policy’s “interim final ”status made it effective immediately.

“What we really wanted to see happen, and we’re working together with advocates, is to show that this interim-final rule that states probably weren’t acting on immediately after it was enacted, are now starting to act on it, and so the administration urgently needs to respond to this interim-final rule,” said Amber Christ, the directing attorney for the Justice in Aging Health Team. “We’re going to raise awareness about the fact that this can’t be left unaddressed any longer.”
